I’ve just signed up at the Halloween Giveaway JV 2011 as a contributor to build my list.

It’s one of the largest Giveaway Events of the year and if you want to add new subscribers to your list, then this is the place to go to.

A Giveaway Event is basically a place where several internet marketers create a Team to add new subscribers to their lists.

Every marketer enters a Free Gift into the giveaway event that people can access once the giveaway event opens.  I’ll be adding a copy of my newest ebook Get Organized For Traffic Exchange Success.

You need an ebook or other gift, an optin page, an image, and a download page for your gift.

Also, every marketer promotes the giveaway event, that’s how people find their way to the event.

The Halloween giveaway event is currently in Pre-Launch, that’s the time when all the internet marketers sign up and add their gifts.

If you read this, you are invited to join us in this Pre-Launch.

Be aware that this is not a free-ride… you’ll either have to promote the event or you can upgrade your account to add gifts (and other stuff like banners, special offers and your profile with links to your blog, website, twitter and facebook).

Are you ready to join the Team?

Then signup now, Click Here

I’ll see you inside!

When you have a new program, you can get signups just promoting the standard affiliate pages. After all, they are new, and people stop to look.

What happens several weeks later, when there are ten times as many people promoting the same product? You guessed it. Interest dies down. Most surfers have seen that page already, over and over… and they no longer pay much attention.

So what do you do now? Do you quit, find the next new launch, pay for yet another thing? Or is there some way to continue to make money with your investment?

There is a solution!

Give people something new to look at, without costing yourself a lot more effort or cash.

You do this by making a splash page, making your own banners, writing blog posts, posting text ads… anything which is different, which makes them wonder.

You’ve probably seen some really great (and really ugly) splash pages created by other surfers, and now you know why they do it… to get attention.

You can make a really colourful splash page at AdKreator or Instant Splash.

In the video below you can watch me make an easy, basic splash page at TEToolbox, which you can do for free.

Log in to TEToolbox, then you can follow along with the video and pause it when you need to. You’ll have your first splash page created in 4 minutes!

All you need to get started is your affiliate page link for MySurfBiz (or any other biz op) and a banner or other image link. If you need to host your image, you can do that at TEToolbox too.

Update: March 2012 – The previous owner of MySurfBiz was going to drop the program.  My friend Rina Baxter and I were so upset about this that we decided to take it over, and we have improved the site 100%, while building on Rick’s excellent concept.

The site still works basically the same, with these changes:

- we set up a proper, secure members area where you can set up your step1 and step2 pages by filling in the blanks, and we host them for you

- affiliate commissions are now handled by JVZoo, and are paid instantly on every sale

- step1 page has got a new look, with the optin form above the fold

- step2 page now has 8 programs, 2 of which offer free upgrades, the other 6 can be set to whatever You choose

- we have added splash pages and new banners

- autoresponder setup instructions for TrafficWave have been added, ListWire coming soon (AWeber was already there)

- price has gone up to $14.97 (one time cost) and commissions are now $9.88

Here is my original review:

I’ve been looking at systems which help new marketers to succeed.   I wanted something focused and easy, which would still teach you how to do things right, and I think I’ve found it in MySurfBiz.

MySurfBiz gives you a complete system:

- your own squeeze page
- downline builder for 6 top exchanges
- instant commissions via PaySpree
- free website hosting (your own, not theirs – a great bonus)
- email series
- full instructions that almost anyone could follow, including video
- a members forum where you can ask questions

It took me a couple of hours to set up, and this is what I ended up with:

Step 1 – Squeeze page (and email series)
Step 2 – Downline builder page
Step 3 – Sales page

I put this on to rotate at all the exchanges I am a member of, and also sent out some safelist emails (though of course that is not necessary, this system is designed to work well using nothing but traffic exchanges.)

Overnight, I ended up with 23 people on my list, and 5 upgrades.  Also ended up with signups at some of the traffic exchanges in the downline builder.  That’s the best results I’ve had from any promotion in the past few months.

I think anyone with reasonable surfing skills should be able to get signups with this, and if you are a beginner, it’s a great place to start.

Pros:

  • Almost anybody can start with this
  • One time cost of $9.95 plus $1 for 1 month trial of AWeber autoresponder (optional)
  • Full directions at newbie level
  • Set it up once, do nothing but click and surf after that
  • 75% instant commissions on sales of MySurfBiz
  • Build your downlines in 6 top exchanges, which will build your traffic generation and commissions as well
  • It’s brand new, so you will get more attention than you would with older programs which people have seen before

Cons:

  • If you want to use an autoresponder other than AWeber, you need to figure that out for yourself.  I found my TrafficWave code did not go in properly, but I was able to go into the source code of the squeeze page and fix that there.  So if you have a tiny bit of html knowledge you should be ok.  Otherwise, ask a friend, or ask on the forum. Rick the owner seems happy to help.  I think ListWire code would go in ok if you used the javascript version, which is similar to the AWeber code snippet.
  • You can’t add your own favorite exchange to the list.  I have asked Rick on the forum if there is any way he could add that to the program, it would be great.  We’ll see what he says.

Overall assessment:

MySurfBiz is worth buying and promoting.  It looks great, people do sign up for it, and a reasonable percentage actually take the upgrade.  You will build your list and your traffic exchange downlines (so important for traffic generation) in the process, and it’s all going to happen in the simplest possible way.  Definitely worth $9.95 and a couple hours of setup time, and if you are a brand new newbie, you can consider that part of your online education!

Comparisons to other programs:

I have tried out ClickTrackProfit and TE Action Plan.  They are both good, and you can learn a lot using them.  However, they are both much more complex than MySurfBiz, and take a lot of time to make progress with.  If you have tried those and found them too difficult for now, I suggest MySurfBiz to get you started.

Adding an opt-in form to your blog can be quite easy.

If you know how to get your form code from your autoresponder, then you already have most of what you need.

Here are the Steps:

1. Get your autoresponder form code from your autoresponder.

  • In Listwire, click on the Prospects tab and then click on the Subscription Form link.  If you don’t have a subscription form yet then use the button below to create one. After that, use the “get code” link to copy the hmtl for your form.
  • In TrafficWave, select your campaign, then mousever Capture Pages/Forms and click on the Capture Forms link.  Scroll to the bottom of that page to copy your HTMl source code.

2. Go to your blog and add an HTML/Javascript box or Text Widget to the sidebar.

  • In Blogger, go to Layout, then use the Add a Gadget link to add an “HTML/Javascript” box.
  • In self-hosted WordPress, use the Widget facility to add a Text Widget to your sidebar.
  • If you are using a WordPress.org blog (hosted by WordPress) then you still need to add the Text Widget, but you will do something different in step 3.

3. Paste your autoresponder form code in the HTML/Javascript box or Text Widget.

Unfortunately this will not work for blogs hosted at WordPress.org, but you can get around that.  Simply put an image of your incentive and a link to your squeeze page which is hosted elsewhere, in that Text Widget.  It’s not as nice as having the opt-in form right there in your sidebar, but it will do the job.

4. Adjust the width of the form if necessary.  Sometimes the form code will adjust to the width of your sidebar, but if it is too wide, you can adjust it.

  • In ListWire, copy your form code to a notepad or wordpad document, and then find “table width=”300″”.  Change the 300 to something less, and update that to your sidebar gadget or widget.  Keep adjusting until you get it right.
  • In TrafficWave you can adjust the width of the form before you get your HTML. You will see a link to “modify optional elements”, just below the form preview.  After clicking on this link you wlll be able to adjust the form width. Make sure you click on the Adjust button before you copy your HTML after that.

So there you have it, how to add an opt-in form to your blog in 4 easy steps!

If even this seems too complicated for you,  and you have a self-hosted WordPress blog, you might like to try the free MaxBlogPress Optin Form Adder.

There have been a lot of safelists/marketing systems  launched in the past year, but very few of them have been amazing.

This one looks absolutely brilliant!

Here’s how it works:

Totally Tweetable is  a safelist with several new twists, which make the most of viral marketing,  social networking and search engine traffic to boost your results (even if you don’t know what half of that stuff does).

When you send your email, it is auto-posted to a blog – great for ongoing search engine traffic if you put good keywords in the title!

When people read your email and view your link  (which they do in the same way as in any safelist), they have the option to post your link to their Twitter and/or Facebook accounts for extra credits.

This means that a) many more people are going to see your ad and b) this is great for marketing anything, not just the usual traffic exchange/safelist stuff, because your ads are going to end up in the “real” world.

You can join and use the system for free, or upgrade to get maximum exposure, it’s up to you!

I think it’s amazing, and I’m in!

I spent a few days writing blog posts and posting them to my various blogs, and then I got tired.  After all, creativity comes in cycles, and there is a lot to do in life besides blogging.

I’m back to it now.

My blogger.com blog (easytoexercise.blogspot.com) has 10 posts scheduled.  If you didn’t know, the ability to schedule posts is a wonderful feature, and that’s just one of the things I learned about at The Niche Blogger recently.

The blog which I created by following the guidelines at The Niche Blogger  (naturalcatfleacontrol.com) now has 4 posts, and I’m working on more.

The lessons at The Niche Blogger have been full of encouragement, and loaded with information.  I now have a free tool to check out which keywords the competition uses.  I’ve learned about Latent Semantic Indexing (that’s about using related keywords in your posts in a natural way, for better search engine ranking). And I know how to rewrite an article into a blog post in under 10 minutes.

They will cover adsense placement in month 2, so I’ve done my own for now.  I was frustrated about that at first, but now that I’ve covered most of the topics for this month, I can understand that there is a lot to learn, and maybe there is more to correct adsense use than meets the eye.

I’ve earned a grand total of 98 cents on adsense in the last two weeks.  Time to write more blog posts!

Here on the traffic exchanges we get exposed to a lot of different money making schemes.

A few of them might be shady, but many are just someone’s idea, fueled by a lot of enthusiasm and often the owner’s wish to help others as well. Technically they should work.

So why don’t these things work for many people?

Here are the real reasons:

  • We subconsciously settle for what we are used to.  This means that if we are used to being broke, we are not likely to simply buy into a program and succeed in it beyond our wildest dreams.
  • Deep down, we may not feel that we deserve it, or should have it.  There is a lot of training in society about earning what you get, so to actually allow ourselves to reap big rewards without making an equal amount of effort, or making a contribution to others, goes against everything we have been trained to be.
  • We are playing in the fairytale wonderland of the internet, and don’t really want to be responsible business owners yet.  It’s too much fun just playing around in this environment, and who knows, we might just click on the right thing and our ship will come in!

All of these things are perfectly understandable, and we should not abuse ourselves over it, but at some point the glitter wears off and we know we truly do want to make a success of our online activity.

So what can we do about the things which sabotage our success?  Here are some things which will help:

  • Accept yourself as you are.  If you are used to being broke, then be willing to work your way up in small steps, and train yourself gradually into a better frame of mind for success.
  • Learn to value or love yourself more, so you can feel more deserving.  Sometimes loving yourself can be as simple as listening to how you feel about something, and doing what is best for you instead of what is “expected”.
  • Learn a skill, such as list building or blogging, or any other method of internet promotion.  Once you have learned something, and are getting results, you will feel more worthy of receiving the benefits.  This is not a feeling that “they owe me”, it’s a feeling of rightness about receiving what you deserve.
  • Learn to spend more time dreaming of what you really want.  This is not about longing for things, it’s about imagining yourself in that place of already having them. This helps to focus your mind in the right direction.  It also helps you to feel good, which gives you a good start for your activity and decision making.

I’m still following along with the plan provided at The Niche Blogger to build my “real” niche blog.

After spending the last three years figuring things out for myself in internet marketing, it is such a relief to have someone else show me what to do for a change.

The Niche Blogger took me through the steps of getting a domain name, then setting up hosting and nameservers. They recommend HostGator, which seems to be really easy to use.  For example, I was able to install plugins without needing to use FTP, and without running into any issues at all.  One click and it was done.

I know a lot of that stuff already from my own experience, but I learned some useful things along the way, and if I was a newbie I’d be extra glad to have these things outlined in such easy steps.

I also had a question about themes which were answered by other members on the forum.

After that the focus was on installing WordPress, how to use the various tabs in the WordPress dashboard, and which plugins are important to have for SEO, security and other things.  Again I learned some good stuff, including the use of the Secure WordPress plugin to help keep hackers out of the blog, and how best to use tags and categories (that was an eye opener).

Next it was time to pick a WordPress theme, and again there were guidelines to follow for best results.

After picking the theme it was time to install widgets, and the necessary ones were covered in detail.

Then came the real challenge – writing the first blog post!

At this point I’ve written two posts, but I won’t show you the blog yet until I feel it’s looking exactly how I want it.

Setting up my first niche blog was a great learning experience.

Still, I feel that I can do better, and I want some tuition and guidance.

After looking around, I signed up to The Niche Blogger.  They teach you how to set up your niche blog, from the very basics.

The owner dug herself out of debt with niche blogging, and then successfully taught her computer-illiterate mother how to do it, so I feel I’m in good hands for comprehensive basic training.

Today I followed their plan and came up with 5 ideas for niche blogs, then used their recommended tool to see how much demand there is for keywords on those topics.  According to their guidelines, there was plenty, so I am feeling quite encouraged. This was all quite easy to do, and understandable, just from following their advice.  Tomorrow I get to check out affiliate programs for my proposed niches.

The program is self-paced in easy steps, and I’m happy to take it a bit at a time and let it sink in.

I also watched the video from Commission Ignition.  These guys give you a lot of information on the sales page video, and I got a better understanding of niche sites and how they can work.  It was definitely worth taking the time to watch the video, especially towards the end where they show you how to get your niche site to rank high with the search engines, and how to get viral traffic.

I didn’t buy their stuff at this time, though it was tempting.  For now, I’ll follow The Niche Blogger and get a solid bit of learning under my belt.

A thought about using articles for blog posts – not all articles are good quality, or well written.  If you use a system to simply plug in any old articles which fit your keywords, you are going to be posting a lot of junk.  If you take any pride in your blog then you’ve got to check them before you post them.

A bit of encouragement – it appears you don’t have to keep on posting on your niche blog forever, which is a relief.

And if you wonder why I’m posting about niche building on a list building blog, well, niche sites can be a great way to build your list!  (And, it’s my hot topic of the moment, enjoy!)
