The Challenge of Being an “Early Adopter”!
TweetIn the internet marketing world, there are those who wait to see how a program will perform before they invest their time and money in it, and then there are those who quickly decide that they are interested, sign up right away, and promote.
There are pros and cons to each way of being. Early promoters get the bulk of the signups when a program is still new, before they have a lot of competition. On the other hand, if a program is not as great as it seemed at first glance, or if you made your decision based on the wrong assumptions, you will be out of pocket…
Sometimes a program can be great but people just don’t “get” it.
I guess I tend to be an early adopter with programs which I understand, but today I’m very much in limbo about the outcome of my latest choice.
I’ve watched Carl Bailey with his Instant Splash program, which is really fantastic – simple, no complications, easy to use, cheap upgrade, 50% commissions, people love it and I did well promoting that as soon as I realized how good it was. I still promote it and get referrals almost daily.
So, when Carl launched his new program Banners and Bucks yesterday, I jumped on it. After all, I’ve watched the progress of Instant Splash and I am impressed. But now, with not one nibble after advertising it on all my safelists and traffic exchanges, I am wondering if I made the right choice. Ouch!
I love banner advertising and anything which gets my banner “out there”, so for this reason I really like Buckets of Banners, where I get a really good click thru rate, and my banners go all over the traffic exchange world to places I’ve never even heard of. I know I get signups from my ads at Buckets of Banners, so even though I haven’t had much luck promoting it, I continue to use it because it works for me.
Banners and Bucks should be just as good. After all it puts my banners right in front of surfers. But will people go for it?
The pay plan is good, with one lifetime payment to upgrade, and 50% commissions. Free members can earn an upgrade. It seems a good thing for those who like to surf a lot and make money with a free program. At this point the program does not have a banner exchange code for members, so it depends on surfers rotating the splash pages.
So what happened? Was I the first to mail out? Perhaps people will sign up when they see the site several more times (from other people’s emails). Maybe my email subject was not catchy enough? Does the splash page need more pizazz? Or is it just a matter of waiting a bit longer?
I did get one hit on a CBPirate product banner already . And from what I’ve seen of Carl, he’ll be making adjustments if necessary, so the jury is still out, but I’ll be watching my results with interest! Watch this space!
TweetSo what does Tony Tezak say in his new ebook?
TweetTony Tezak’s newly launched ebook Traffic Exchange Solutions is all over the traffic exchanges. Have you read it yet? Have you been wondering what he says?
Here is my favourite quote:
“Using traffic exchanges, I successfully built one list to over 2400 in one year. Not a bad effort considering I was not a program owner. My income during that time nearly tripled.“ (This was Tony’s first list in 2007, when he was already a successful downline builder in various programs.)
Why do I like this quote? Because Tony is a real guy who built his business on traffic exchanges. If he did it, then so can I and so can you!
The information in the book is basic, anyone can use it. You don’t need to be a guru or a techno geek (Tony certainly isn’t one himself). It’s just experience, focus and common sense.
Tony will tell you how he picks the traffic exchanges he advertises on, how he gets people to sign up to his opportunities, what he does to stand out from the crowd, and more…

TweetMax Your Mailings and Max Your Profits!
Filed under: List Builders, Reviews, Safelists, Tracking, Viral Marketing
ViralMailProfits has just launched, everybody and his dog are promoting it….
So what’s that program all about?
It’s a system to manage all your safelist mailings. It automatically keeps track of all your mailings, sends you an email when you are due to mail again, and even creates and inserts tracking links for you (and if you re-use an email because it’s so great, it will create a new tracker link for your new emailing).
If you are clever, you can even use it for other things, like tracking your own autoresponder emails, or your Twitter tweets (the ones you’ve monetized with links in them, anyway). That’s not the standard way to use it, but hey! I’m tracking this blog’s posts with it, which is why you see the cloaked links – they are tracker links (and I could have left them uncloaked). This is the first post to get this treatment, and I can see, 5 minutes later (re-edited!) that 11 people have clicked on the links already…
How good is it? I wrote the user manual and I can tell you, ViralMailProfits is great!
Free members can manage up to 7 mailers, upgraded members get even more.
And… if your mailer is not in their main list, you can add it anyway! Free members can add 2, upgraded members can add up to 10.
Now, this system won’t send your emails out for you… but it will format them correctly for your mailer, so that you never have to wonder if you should be entering #firstname# or %fn or {firstname}…
Maxed Out Mailings = Maxed Out Profits!
With ViralMailProfits you can make the most of your safelists and listbuilders by making sure you use them whenever you have a mailing available.
You’ll notice the viral bar at the top of the ad when you click on the link – when you use the system, you will have this viral bar over your ads, automatically promoting your referral link for you. How cool is that?
So, now you know all about it!
I hope you will check out this great new program.
TweetReview of All About My First List
Filed under: Autoresponders, Monetize Your List, Reviews, Squeeze pages
When I joined All About My First List and looked through the site, my first reaction was “Sunny has really wrapped it up here”.
If you want to build your list, but need to be led through the process in easy steps, this one is for you.
When you get to the members area (get a sneak peak here), you will see 10 steps to follow. You can easily do one per day.
Day 1. Pick your product to promote. Sunny has provided a dozen current ebooks (including Build Your List with Ease, thanks Sunny!) which you can choose as your gift to entice subscribers. You will need to join the site which provides the ebook of your choice, but you do not need to upgrade (though you will tap into the power of viral marketing by giving away an ebook rebranded with your links).
Day 2. Create your opt-in page. This is so simple. All you do is add a headline and up to 3 bullet points. The system creates your squeeze page, complete with an image of your gift ebook, with one click. You can return later to add your autoresponder code. You can see mine here.
Day 3. Make a really professional download page for your subscribers. When they go there to get the free gift, it will have ads with your links in them below the download information, to make the most of your virtual real estate. I won’t give away how she does that, but it’s very easy and looks great.
Day 4. Get your emails. Writing your email series is always the most challenging part of building your list. Sunny provides a pre-written email series for each product. These are flexible and allow for you to insert your own promotions in the series.
Days 5 and 6. If you are going to write your own emails, you will use these steps to learn about writing your own emails, and to write your series. Sunny shows you how to source and use PLR products as the basis of your own series. You can skip these steps if you are using the prewritten emails.
Expect to spend the most time on steps 4 through 6.
Day 7. Join the auto-responder of your choice.
Day 8. Set up your campaign. This means you name your list in your autoresponder, and add your emails to it.
Day 9. Add your autoresponder code to your squeeze page. Easy.
Day 10. Drive traffic. Sunny will tell you how to get going, and what to expect. There is also a nice surprise at the end of this day.
All About My First List does have some drawbacks. You are limited to Sunny’s selection of ebooks, though I’m pretty sure Sunny will keep the collection fresh by adding new ebooks as they become available.
The system is not free – it costs $37 to upgrade. On the plus side, you earn 50% commission from upgraded referrals, so it doesn’t take long to get your money back on your investment, and you will also make commissions and referrals from signups in the site rebrander, which includes many of the recommended programs and resources.
Overall, All About My First List provides a great system to get you up and running with your first list, and also to educate you in the process, so that you will truly know what you are doing. It is worth the $37 one-time fee.
If you can’t afford $37, there is always Build Your List with Ease, which you can get for free and which will help you to build your own list using free resources – a very good book for the independent-minded online entrepreneur!
